We asked Tosin Kuku to share more about herself:

🍽 I would invite Benezir Bhutto to my dream dinner party. Growing up, I watched her activism on TV in Pakistan and I always wondered how she was able to withstand the religious and political chaos and still forge ahead with her political ambitions before she was killed. I would really like to hear from her what it felt like, what motivated her and how she never gave up.

Plus, she was a very beautiful woman and it wouldn’t hurt to know her beauty secrets too!

🎶 Hope by Twista and Faith Evans would be my theme tune.

I heard this song when I was a child and it has stuck with me ever since. It’s very inspirational and it always gives me hope. I would stand in front of the mirror with a brush in my hand, singing this song with so much passion.

At that time, I didn’t even know who sang the song. It was not until I was much older and paid attention to the lyrics that I really understood it. It just always lifted my spirits and it’s the song I always turn to when I need some cheering up or inspiration.

🦸🏽‍♀️ If I had a superpower, it would be invisibility, just like Transculent in The Boys. If I’m invisible, I can do all the things I want to do and it will be quite difficult for me to get caught. It would also be very funny watching people trying to solve the mystery of how elements are moving with no one in sight. Sounds very fun to me.

🎭 If I had chosen another path in life, I would probably be an actress. I was very active on the acting scene when I was in elementary school and I got to play the lead roles all the time because I was really good at it.

I remember playing the role of Lady Macbeth in my last year in primary school. In my spare time, I would create imaginary scenarios in my head and act them out. I really enjoyed acting and at some point, I even considered becoming an actress. Who knows, maybe I could have been the next Lupita Nyong’o.

❤️ 3 self-care practices I have adopted

Watching movies. This is my go-to always. It helps me relax and unwind. I particularly enjoy comedy because I love to watch things that make me laugh.

Cooking. This might sound stressful, but cooking helps me de-stress and gives me a sense of fulfillment. I enjoy cooking a wide variety of dishes and trying out various recipes I see online. It helps me learn and it’s also a good way for me to relax.

Sleeping. I take my night time rest very seriously. It’s hard for me to nap during the day, so most times I just like to sleep throughout the night. It helps me wake up feeling energised and kickstarts my day.
