We asked Jaclyn Johnston a few questions to get to know her better—here’s what she shared:

🍽  What person, living or dead, would you invite to your dream dinner party and why?

Must I only choose one? I’d invite Bruce Springsteen, David Bowie, St. Vincent (Annie Clark), Shirley Manson, Dr. Wayne Dyer, Albert Einstein, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Steve Martin, Martin Short, Bill Murray, Stephen Colbert, Conan O’Brien, the entire Seinfeld gang, and Carl Jung.

I love to discuss psychology, politics, philosophy, physics, literature, and how everything is tied together based on our perceptions shaped by our past. But the real question is, would they show up to the party? I can guarantee a lot of laughter!

🐺  What is your spirit animal?

I actually have three:

Turtles because whenever I feel uncomfortable, I like to snap back into my shell and be alone, where I feel safe again. They also have high instinctual intelligence.

Swans because they are elegant, beautiful, romantic, and mate for life.

Wolves because they are fiercely loyal to their loved ones and families above all else. They are intelligent, playful, caring towards their pack when injured, and excellent at teaching their young the way of life. They are also not afraid to protect their loved ones and themselves when necessary.

🎶  What is your theme song?

“Human Touch” by Bruce Springsteen. It’s been my theme song since I was a pre-teen. So many people want to be loved, but they block themselves off with walls and push people away, so they don’t get hurt. How will you ever receive love this way? Like Springsteen states in “Human Touch”, “We’re all riders on this train.

🧞‍♂️ If you had one wish to improve the world, what would you change?

I wish to make mental healthcare affordable so everyone can benefit from therapy and mental stability. Right now, not all therapists and psychiatrists are under insurance plans. Insurance is a scam. The very things we need help with, such as mental health, insurance doesn’t cover it. And don’t get me started on dental and eye care under insurance plans. Our teeth and eyes are part of our health because they are part of the body. Health insurance companies, medical organizations, and the government are all in bed together watching the stock market, and the sheets are dirty.

❤️  Name three self-care practices you have adopted to treat yourself well?

Daily journaling for 5-20 minutes per day using gratitude writing and manifesting methods. It’s how I completely changed my life for the better within ten months and manifested 99% of everything I wanted. And I’m still manifesting new goals and dreams.

I can’t start my day without coffee gracing my taste buds, especially iced coffee with caramel.

I love to laugh, so reruns of Seinfeld hit the spot, and I look forward to Festivus each year.
